Mainoo to start: Man United predicted XI vs Lyon, Amorim to make 6 changes

Manchester United brace themselves for a do-or-die clash at Old Trafford tonight as they welcome Lyon in the second leg of their Europa League quarter-final.

The first leg in France ended in a pulsating 2-2 draw, leaving everything to play for under the lights in Manchester.

We believe manager Ruben Amorim will make six changes to the side that lost 4-1 to Newcastle United on Sunday.

Amorim confirmed in his pre-match press conference that Andre Onana will be back between the posts.

The back three of Noussair Mazraoui, Harry Maguire, and Leny Yoro impressed in patches last week and are set to retain their places for this crunch tie.

Luke Shaw made his return from injury against Newcastle and could come off the bench in the second half.

Patrick Dorgu is tipped to replace teenage prospect Harry Amass at left wing-back, while Diogo Dalot should continue on the right.

Casemiro, rested at the weekend against the Magpies by Amorim, is likely to return to the midfield.

Bruno Fernandes could drop deeper to pair up with Casemiro and help dictate the tempo from the centre.

With United needing goals, Amorim could unleash Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho in dual attacking midfield roles to inject pace and flair behind the striker.

Mainoo last started in February and was forced to spend a few weeks on the sidelines due to an injury he sustained in training.

With Joshua Zirkzee ruled out for the remainder of the 2024-25 campaign, Rasmus Hojlund will be an automatic choice to lead the attack.
