NFL Analysts Project Patriots’ First Four Picks In New Mock Draft
After the Patriots prioritized defense in free agency, a pair of preeminent NFL analysts see New England focusing on offense in the early rounds of the 2024 draft.
ESPN’s Mel Kiper Jr. and Field Yates teamed up to create a three-round mock draft that was released Tuesday morning. Yates handled the Patriots’ first selection, which saw LSU offensive tackle Will Campbell going off the board at No. 4.
“With Travis Hunter and Abdul Carter both gone, this pick becomes all about the offensive line,” Yates wrote. “I know a lot has been made of Campbell’s sub-33-inch arm length, but he has the footwork and pop to stick at left tackle and keep Pats quarterback Drake Maye clean.”
Kiper proceeded to mock Kenneth Grant to New England at No. 38 overall, as he can see the Michigan defensive tackle serving as a great complement to newcomer Milton Williams. Thirty-one picks later, Yates attached Washington State wide receiver Kyle Williams to Mike Vrabel’s group.
“Even after signing Stefon Diggs, the Patriots have to give quarterback Drake Maye more pass-catching options,” Yates wrote. “(Kyle) Williams’ ability to accelerate to top speed really stands out.”
Yates closed things out for New England by tabbing Wyatt Milum as the Patriots’ fourth selection at No. 77 overall. The veteran analyst explained how the West Virginia interior lineman’s game is defined by “toughness and dependability,” a pair of traits that should appeal to Vrabel and company.
It won’t be much longer until we find out how the Patriots actually utilize their top picks. The 2025 NFL Draft from Green Bay will kick off April 24.
