Former Tottenham striker urges Daniel Levy to keep Ange Postecoglou

0 2

Louis Saha has urged Tottenham Hotspur to keep faith in Ange Postecoglou, explaining Australian is capable of turning things around if the club’s recruitment is effective this summer.

Over the past few weeks, the Tottenham Hotspur head coach’s body language and his general mood in press conferences suggest that he is a man who knows his days in N17 could be numbered.

Various outlets have claimed that Ange Postecoglou has to win the Europa League to save his Tottenham job, but it is unclear if even that will be enough.

It has been claimed by many sources that plans are already underway at Spurs for a managerial change in the summer.

However, Saha is not convinced that a managerial change will necessarily have the kind of impact that the Tottenham hierarchy are expecting.

The pundit insisted that in the 59-year-old, Spurs have found a manager who has the right mentality and is a master communicator, suggesting that the club’s struggles this season are down to injuries and a lack of confidence among the squad.

When asked if it was time for a managerial change at Tottenham, Saha told talkSPORT’s The Lineup: “I don’t think so. I want to see them [Ange Postecoglou and Tottenham] succeed in some way, they have the right mentality with their manager, I like his communication I’m so big on that.

“He tends to be very honest and from what I have seen there has been a big spell with injuries which was really bad. I think where every club is struggling at the moment is with consistency, none of the teams at the top have been able to do it, apart from Liverpool.

“I still think Tottenham need to be courageous, patient and find the right players, find maybe the right tactics in some games and it will be fine. I don’t like changing [managers] too many times, I’m sorry. People can be surprised but it’s about confidence and stability and certain players can change all of those things.”

Saha says Tottenham cannot continue repeating the same mistakes

The Frenchman pointed out that some very good managers have struggled at Tottenham over recent years, and suggested that the lack of stability has worked against the Lilywhites. Saha still has belief that Ange Postecoglou will be able to turn things around at Tottenham if he is backed by the club.

He added: “The manager will need to improve and he will have to understand that. It was [Jose] Mourinho or Nuno [Espírito Santo], they came with the same problems, why? Because there is no stability at the very top.”

“There are moments after a few years when you realise that you have changed a lot of managers. You may come across where you have ten games of playing amazing.

“During the start of the season, you could see the magic, it was happening then Tottenham lost the spirit, the speed and there were a few injuries and this is the problem.

“I really feel that if he had this confidence growing and maybe understand how he can reduce the mistakes, then he will be a good manager.”
