Tottenham want to re-sign a former defender, but West Ham want him too
While Tottenham Hotspur have made some steps to re-sign a former defender this summer, one of their London rivals have now made a big move in an effort to beat the Lilywhites to the player.
We are now at the time of the year when speculation starts to intensify regarding potential summer moves as clubs around Europe start drafting their transfer plans.
It was first reported back in February that Tottenham are keen to sign Kyle Walker-Peters on a free transfer, with the right-back’s contract with Southampton ending in June.
A fresh report has now confirmed that the Spurs academy graduate is certain to be on the move from the Saints, but the Lilywhites now face a big challenger in their efforts to bring the player back to Hotspur Way.
West Ham take a big step towards Kyle Walker-Peters
TBR Football have now confirmed that Tottenham are indeed keen on signing Walker-Peters, revealing that the North London club have even spoken to the full-back’s representatives already about a return to N17.
However, the outlet explains that Spurs face a challenge from London rivals, West Ham, who are making plans to bolster their backline and have ‘stepped up’ their pursuit of the Southampton defender.
In fact, the publication says that the Hammers have already presented an offer to Walker-Peters as they try to steal a march on the competition for his signature.
Tottenham have a fight on their hands for Walker-Peters
In this report, TBR Football mention that Fulham and Crystal Palace are also monitoring Walker-Peters ahead of the summer, potentially making it a four-way London battle for the defender.
The interest in the England international does not end there as it was reported last month that Leeds United and Everton are also admirers of Walker-Peters.
It thus looks like Tottenham might have their work cut if they do wish to see the full-back return to the club, five years on from his move to the South Coast.
