Tottenham receive huge blow in pursuit of £50m-rated Wolves midfielder
Tottenham Hotspur have just been handed a huge blow in their rumoured pursuit of a Premier League midfielder after a bid announcement regarding the player’s future.
It should come as no surprise to see Tottenham being linked with so many midfielders, given that Yves Bissouma is expected to depart Spurs this summer while Rodrigo Bentancur has continued to struggle for consistency.
It was reported last month that Tottenham are plotting a move for Wolves star Joao Gomes, who has emerged as one of the most consistent midfielders in the Premier League since arriving at the Molineux Stadium in 2023.
The same update claimed that the 23-year-old was valued at £50m, but Tottenham Hotspur have just been handed some very bad news regarding the player.

Wolves have now confirmed that Gomes has put pen to paper on a new five-year deal in the Midlands.
With the club now well poised to avoid relegation after their impressive form of late, they have successfully managed to tie down their star midfielder to a contract until 2030, while also having an option to extend it by a further year.
GiveMeSport say that this development comes as a huge blow to Spurs, Man Utd and Liverpool, all of whom were keen on landing the player.
They claim that Vitor Pereira’s are keen to hang onto all their star players and add to their squad this summer.
Tottenham eyeing a move for another Wolves star
Gomes is not the only Wolves man that Spurs are thought to have their eye on ahead of the summer transfer window.
Tottenham are also reportedly keen on securing Matheus Cunha, who has been prolific since swapping Atletico Madrid for Wolves two years ago.
The striker did sign a new contract with Wolves back in January, but Cunha’s deal has a release clause of £62m, which means that a summer move is very much on the cards for the striker.
