Almost a Full Squad for Aston Villa—But a Couple of Key Absences
The Villa squad ahead of tomorrow’s FA Cup quarter-final match against Preston North End, the latest updates suggest, we’re in pretty good shape. Ollie Watkins, our key striker, had a minor knee issue earlier this month during a Champions League game against Club Brugge, reports say. He’s been back in full training and is expected to be available for selection tomorrow. Unai Emery, our manager, has indicated that the squad is nearly fully fit, with only a couple of exceptions. Ross Barkley is still out with a knee injury still, while defender Axel Disasi won’t feature either—he’s ineligible as he’s cup-tied, after prior involvement with Chelsea in the competition earlier this year. So, Barkley’s the main confirmed injury concern for the Villa right now, and Disasi cup-tied. The rest of our team, including McGinn, Tielemans, and Watkins, hopefully should be good to go barring any last-minute setbacks. UTV
