Bayern Munich have one concern about Tottenham and Mathys Tel
Bayern Munich are waiting on Tottenham Hotspur to make a decision on a permanent move for Mathys Tel, with a report explaining why the German club’s hierarchy face a nervous wait for the decision.
Tel has not hit the ground running the way he would have hoped for since his loan switch to Tottenham Hotspur in January.
The Frenchman has predominantly been used as a centre-forward so far, but with Dominic Solanke now back fit, the 19-year-old may get a chance to show what he can do out wide over the next couple of months.
Despite the forward’s less-than-ideal start to his time at the club, Ane Postecoglou is convinced that Tel will prove a success at Spurs.
Bayern Munich’s hopes regarding Mathys Tel revealed
According to BILD, Bayern are hoping to sign a striker to serve as Harry Kane’s backup this summer.
However, in order to do that, the Bavarian club would first have to raise cash, and they are hoping to do so through Tel’s move to Spurs.
The report says that the German club are hoping that they receive the full €60m (£50m) from Tottenham for the teenager as they would otherwise not have the funds to hand Vincent Kompany another striker.
The outlet adds that the German giants have been ‘caught in a Tel trap’ as we edge closer to the summer window.
Have Bayern heard back from Tottenham about Mathys Tel?
Bild claim that the Bayern top brass currently do not know if Postecoglou’s team will sign the forward permanently in the summer.
The North London club have given them ‘no indication’ on whether they will take up the option, and the Bundesliga giants are thus unaware if Tel will be returning to the Allianz Arena at the end of the season.
