Tottenham in a race with three European giants to sign Yusuf Akcicek
Tottenham Hotspur now have to contend with competition from a Premier League rival as well as two other European giants for Turkish defender Yusuf Akcicek this summer.
While Tottenham Hotspur are well stocked for centre-backs after the arrival of Kevin Danson from Lens, the injury record of Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero will be a worry for the club.
With Ben Davies’ current deal also running out at the end of the season, it would not be a surprise to see the Lilywhites look to reinforce their backline in the summer.
It was reported a couple of weeks ago that Spurs are monitoring the performances of Fenerbahce defender Yusuf Akcicek ahead of the summer, but the North London club have now learned that signing the teenager will be far from easy.
Three clubs ready to challenge Tottenham for Yusuf Akcicek
Fanatik now report that Bayern Munich are the latest club to show an interest in the Fenerbahce academy graduate.
The report also backs up Tottenham’s interest in Akcicek but reveals that the Bavarian side sent scouts over the weekend to watch the centre-back in action.
The youngster continues to catch the eye of various suitors with his performances, with the report also naming Paris Saint-Germain and Man Utd as admirers of the Turkey international.
Fenerbahce’s stance on Akcicek amidst Spurs interest
Tottenham will not only have to see off competition from Bayern, Man United and PSG for the centre-back, but they may also find negotiations with Fenerbahce to be complicated.
Fanatik claim that Jose Mourinho’s men want to hang onto their academy graduate despite the growing interest in his services.
It is explained that the Istanbul club are even prepared to hand Akcicek a new contract with a substantial salary increase in an effort to keep him off the clutches of these big clubs.
