Tottenham Hotspur hit with fresh injury blow ahead of AZ Alkmaar

0 10

Tottenham Hotspur have had their fair share of injury problems this season and are now set to be without another player prior to Thursday’s huge Europa League tie against AZ Alkmaar.

Kevin Danso only arrived in the winter transfer window, but he could now be facing a spell on the sidelines after suffering a knock in Tottenham Hotspur’s 2-2 draw against Bournemouth on Sunday.

Danso played the full ninety minutes on against Bournemouth despite the returns of both Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero, who have both been out for extended periods.

Since joining from RC Lens in January, the Austrian centre-back has been a mainstay in Spurs’ backline alongside Archie Gray, largely due to injuries suffered by Ben Davies and, more recently, Radu Dragusin.

With the squad stretched, the 26-year-old has played almost every minute available. Danso’s consistent performances have quickly won over the Tottenham fansl. Even Postecoglou himself has praised the defender for stepping up in difficult circumstances.

Kevin Danso’s injury scare raises concerns for Spurs

Despite lasting for the entire ninety minutes against Bournemouth, reports from Football.London, suggests that Danso may have picked up a muscle injury.

If confirmed, this could see him ruled out for a crucial period, adding to Tottenham’s ongoing injury woes.

Concerns over his fitness surfaced towards the end of the game when he appeared to struggle, visibly uncomfortable as the match reached its climax.

At the final whistle, he was spotted heading straight down the tunnel at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, accompanied by medical staff, clutching his right hamstring with his shorts pulled up on that side of his body.

With no official update on his condition yet, all eyes will be on Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou’s upcoming press conference on Thursday afternoon for more details.

With Kevin Danso injured, Postecoglou must make changes

Spurs fans will anxiously await further clarity on the extent of the issue. If the injury is significant, it could force Postecoglou to reshuffle his defensive options.

If Danso is ruled out, he could miss Tottenham’s next fixture on Thursday, though Spurs still have options at centre-back with Romero, van de Ven, Archie Gray, and Davies available.

The injury list at Hotspur Way is taking shape again, with Danso now expected to join Dejan Kulusevski, Radu ragusin, and Richarlison on the treatment table.
