Tottenham will have to fight Man United and Liverpool for £70m rising star

0 1

Tottenham Hotspur are expected to make a move for a highly rated young Premier League centre-back, but they are expected to face intense competition from two of their rivals as a three-way transfer battle takes shape.

Tottenham secured the services of Kevin Danso from Lens in January and the experienced Austrian has hit the ground running at N17, delivering some solid performances so far.

Spurs’ first-choice centre-back partnership, Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven are close to returning to action, while Ange Postecoglou has also Radu Dragusin (currently out with a long-term injury), Archie Gray and Ben Davies at his disposal.

However, despite having so many options in central defence, it has been revealed that the Lilywhites are planning to further strengthen in that position by securing the services of an England international in the summer.

Tottenham could be involved in Jarrad Branthwaite battle

This update comes from CaughOffside, who claim that Spurs have set their sights on Jarrad Branthwaite, who is expected to be on the move from Goodison Park this summer.

However, Tottenham would have to battle Man Utd and Liverpool for the 22-year-old’s services, with the Red Devils identifying him as the man to replace Harry Maguire. Arne Slot’s men are also big admirers of the Everton academy graduate.

It is revealed that the Toffees are expected to demand a fee in excess of £70m for Branthwaite if these clubs come knocking on the door in the summer.

The report reveals that Real Madrid also previously expressed an interest in the Englishman but is not clear at the moment if they are expected to come back in for him in the summer.

Everton hoping to ward off interest in Jarrad Branthwaite

Interestingly, the outlet says that despite the growing interest in Braithwaite, Everton have not given up hope of holding onto the player.

The report claims that the Merseyside club see the youngster as an important part of their plans for the future and wants him to lead them into a new era at their new stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock.

Everton are thus planning on offering Branthwaite a new deal which will make him their highest-paid player.
