Patriots Should Have Clear Goal In Mind At Scouting Combine
The Patriots’ offseason options are endless.
New England is in the most interesting position of any team at the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine because there’s an argument to be made for the organization targeting nearly every single player that takes the field in Indianapolis.
Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel has talked about how he intends to be aggressive in free agency, which will also open up possibilities once the draft rolls around. It’ll be an interesting case study to see how the combine will influence that, though, as the depth of certain position groups could allow for the club to target others in free agency — essentially helping map out the overall plan.
George Balekji and Travis Thomas welcomed me onto NESN’s “Foxboro Rush” podcast on Friday, with one of the main takeaways from our discussion being exactly what the approach should be in Indy.
It’s kind of obvious, though. The Patriots should be looking to confirm what they already know, which will allow them to make the smartest decisions possible while still entering the offseason intending to make some ballsy moves.
Balekji and Thomas also discussed a potential power struggle, which we know will get you guys going.
We each discussed one player of interest that will test at the scouting combine, ranging from potential first-round targets (Travis Hunter) to dudes who might barely crack the sixth round (Brant Kuithe).
It’s all rooted in the idea that these upcoming months will be extremely unpredictable, with any sense of direction stemming from what happens this weekend. If you’re interested in that, drama surrounding the two most important people in the building or just want to talk prospects, this is the show for you.
