Tottenham eye summer move for Villarreal’s Ayoze Perez to bolster attack
Recent reports have linked Tottenham Hotspur to in-form Villarreal forward Ayoze Perez who could be available on a cheap.
Tottenham Hotspur’s first-choice forward and backup strikers Dominic Solanke and Richarlison are currently sidelined and are expected to return in the next two weeks.
This has left Ange Postecoglou short in the striking department. However, new signing Mathys Tel, in the absence of both Richarlison and Dominic Solanke has since stepped up to fill the void.
Beyond injuries, the inconsistency of the likes of Heung-min Son and Timo Werner has left the Lilywhites struggling in the final third. The South Korean forward has endured a mixed season, which has led to calls for him to be replaced.
Tottenham targeting Ayoze Perez to add firepower
Reports from Fichajes, now state that Tottenham Hotspur, are hoping to add more firepower to their attack this summer.
It is reported that the English side is eyeing a move for £6.6m Villarreal attacker Ayoze Perez who has scored 14 goals in 20 games across all competitions.
Perez is no stranger to life in England and has had stints with both Newcastle United and Leicester City. The Spaniard found the back of the net 45 times and assisted 18 times in his 223 Premier League appearances.
Fichajes is also reporting that Tottenham are not the the only club keen on securing his signature. The Lilywhites are expected to face competition from German outfit Eintracht Frankfurt. However, given his price tag and Spurs’ financial status, they could pip the German side to the Spanish forward’s signature.
Would Perez be a smart addition for Spurs?
A player like Perez who is happy to play as a backup player is always a nice addition to any squad competing on multiple fronts.
Should the Lilywhites go for the 31-year-old, it would almost be similar to the signing of Timo Werner, as they will be getting a player who can play in multiple positions across the front line.
