Red Sox Vibe Check: Roman Anthony Crashes Marcelo Mayer’s NESN Interview
The Boston Red Sox are committed to putting their top prospects on the field to prove themselves this spring training.
Kristian Campbell and Marcelo Mayer both took the field against the Northeastern Huskies. Mayer tallied a hit and joined NESN’s Tom Caron on the Red Sox broadcast from the dugout. Boston’s top prospect in Roman Anthony, who got scratched from the lineup before first pitch, still had his airtime to mess with Mayer and dropping sunflower seeds on his hat.

The Red Sox prospects have led a culture change throughout the farm system that recharged the future of the ballclub. The 2025 season appears to be the year the big-league club will reap the benefits of the retooled farm system with players like Anthony, Mayer (later in the summer) and Kristian Campbell leading the way.
Anthony’s high school coach, Todd Fitz-Gerald of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, also spoke to NESN.com Friday with a trio of predictions for the top prospect’s future accolades with the Red Sox.
