Ex-Red Sox Infielder Delivers Another Clutch Hit In WBC Qualifiers

Yu Chang is a different player when it comes to the World Baseball Classic and the former Boston Red Sox infielder stepped up again.

Chang won the Pool A in 2023’s pool play for the WBC representing Chinese Taipei. He hit .438 with two home runs, two doubles in eight RBI’s to take over the four-game stretch. The WBC returns in 2026 and qualifiers are underway. Chinese Taipei fell to Spain Friday morning, but not before the former Red Sox infielder made his mark again.

Chang smashed a two-run home run to get his squad on the scoreboard.

Chang spent parts of two seasons with the Red Sox in 2022 and 2023. He hit six home runs in 50 games with a .228 batting average.

The former Red Sox infielder now plays for the Fubon Guardians in the Chinese Professional Baseball League. He hit .270 with 10 home runs and a .985 for the Guardians in 2024.
