Tottenham hierarchy develop plan to bring club out of current crisis
The speculation over Ange Postecoglou’s future has once again picked up over the last few days, and a fresh report has now provided an insight into what the Tottenham top brass feel they need to do to ensure the club comes out of their current mess.
Is Ange Postecoglou’s future at Spurs in doubt?
Under normal circumstances, there is no doubt that Daniel Levy would have already made a managerial change if Tottenham were languishing in the bottom half of the table and had been knocked out of both domestic cup competitions.
However, these are evidently not normal circumstances, with Spurs having to deal with an injury crisis of nearly unprecedented proportions this season.
There is now finally some light at the end of the tunnel on the injury front, with as many as seven first-team players reportedly on the cusp of returning, and Postecoglou will be hoping that his side’s form starts to turn around over the coming weeks.
What Tottenham hierarchy feel about coming out of this mess
Over the last few days, we have seen a number of outlets claim that Postecoglou is not in any immediate danger of being sacked as the club are sympathetic to the injury situation he has been dealing with.
A new report in The Telegraph has now backed up the same information on the Australian’s future and explained the stance of the Tottenham decision-makers.
It is revealed that there ‘remains a belief’ among the club’s top brass that they can come out of this period strong if they stick together.
The club’s chairman Daniel Levy and technical director Johan Lange are thus expected to continue backing Postecoglou and his ideas.
However, the publication does add the caveat that Spurs’ showing in the Europa League will be crucial to the 59-year-old’s prospects of retaining his position over the long term.
What does Postecoglou need to do to save his job?
One would think that Postecoglou has to at least guide the team to a top-six finish and take them to the semifinals of the Europa League to still be in his job next season.
Having said that, the club have clearly committed to a long-term project and might feel justified in sticking with their head coach if there are enough signs of improvement over the next few months.
