Ange Postecoglou reveals bad news on Micky Van de Ven fitness at Spurs
Ahead of Spurs’ all-important Carabao Cup semifinal second-leg clash against Liverpool, Ange Postecoglou reveals an update on Micky Van de Ven.
Tottenham’s injury list is not getting smaller
Throughout the season, Tottenham have lost players to fresh injuries just as others return to fitness, which has been a frustrating cycle for Ange Postecoglou to deal with.
The trend does not appear to be stopping, with Radu Dragusin becoming the latest player facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines as the Romanian’s season was ended by an ACL injury.
Additionally, Guglielmo Vicario, Destiny Udogie, Cristian Romero, Wilson Odobert, James Maddison, Brennan Johnson, Timo Werner, and Dominic Solanke are currently on the treatment table, with some of them closer to returning than others.

Tottenham will head to Anfield with a slender 1-0 lead and will have to play out of their skins to book a place in the big Wembley final at the expense of the Premier League leaders.
Postecoglou has delivered some good news ahead of the clash, revealing that Spurs have no new injuries, while both Mathys Tel and Kevin Danso are available.
The Spurs head coach told Football.London: “For availability from last week, everyone fine. Kevin and Mathys are both available and have trained. The rest of them, no one available for tomorrow.”
Unfortunately, there was bad news too as Micky Van de Ven and Cristian Romero are both unavailable for the semi-final clash.
Postecoglou said: “With Micky and Romero to a certain extent, it’s about being conservative with them. Micky got through the 45 minutes but he feels he’s not ready yet for the step up to the Premier League yet. Obviously, a big shame to lose Radu.”
On Micky Van de Ven, he added: “It’s a bit of everything. He got through the game no problem but had a look at stats, Premier League is a whole different beast and after losing Radu, I thought about what we had ahead of us.
“Don’t get me wrong we have some big games ahead but also afforded ourselves a couple of clear weeks. Hopefully, we’re in the final of the Carabao Cup, hopefully, we’re still in the FA Cup and I don’t see sense of us risking it. Having Kevin in is a massive bonus and he [VDV] hasn’t reinjured but he feels he needs to get more into him. Same with Romero.”
Spurs will be boosted by two new faces
Postecoglou will be delighted that he now has two more solid options at his disposal after Tottenham secured deals for Kevin Danso and Mathys Tel in the final days of the transfer window.
Neither player will likely make the starting eleven at Anfield given that they have not trained much with the squad, but they might be required for a 20 or 30-minute cameo off the bench as Spurs are going to need all the help they can get to get past Arne Slot’s men.
