Jamar Smith Returns!

Having started the season with Poole Town, Jamar departed for Gosport in October and made 11 appearances for the Hampshire side but has now returned back to the BlackGold Stadium for the remainder of the season.

During his time with the club earlier this season, Jamar made 16 appearances for Poole.

The 24-year-old is a natural full back who has the ability to prowess forward at speed whilst being defensively resolute.

Jamar Smith started his career at Kidlington who are members of the Southern League Division One Central and made 24 appearances, scoring on two occasions.

He had spells at Thame United and North Leigh before signing for Didcot Town in 2021.

In his first season with ‘The Diddy’, he was one of their standout players, finishing the campaign on seven goals in 28 appearances.

The following season, Jamar achieved promotion to the Southern League Premier South with Didcot Town after defeating Ware in the Playoff Final.

In fact, Jamar scored the winning goal on that day to secure promotion infront of a crowd of 2,000 people.

Due to his impressive performances in his two years with Didcot, Jamar was offered a contract with Salisbury and played a vital role in achieving another promotion with them as they secured National League South status.

In the summer, Jamar made the decision to move to Poole Town and made 16 appearances before moving to Gosport under the management of Joe Lea and Pat Suraci.

Jamar Smith has now made the decision to return to The BlackGold Stadium and we can’t wait to see him in red and white again!

On his arrival, Jamar said: “I’m delighted to be back, when I heard Joe and Pat were coming over and there was interest there, it was a no-brainer really.”

Smith added: “When I was at Gosport, I had a really good relationship with them and they made the plan clear for me to come back, play and to be a big part of their plan and I couldn’t wait to be a part of it.

“The discussions were brilliant; they want me to be a big part of the team and that’s what I want to be.

“From my previous time at the club, it’s obvious what I bring, I’m a hard-working player and I like to get up and down.

“For me, the biggest thing is the mentality and I’m looking to bring that mentality into the squad and be a real leader in the changing room.”

Joint-manager Joe Lea commented on his arrival: “We’re delighted to welcome Jamar back, he’s a player we know really well. He’s someone we had at Gosport with us and we know what he is capable of.”

He added: “We know we need to make some additions to the group and we’re really pleased to have Jamar on board for the rest of the season.”

Welcome back Jam!
