A supercomputer has just predicted the results of the remaining rounds of the Europa League, and it does not make for great reading for Ange Postecoglou’s side.

Tottenham will look to go far in the Europa League

With Spurs rooted to the bottom half of the table in the Premier League, Ange Postecoglou will place primary importance to the cup competitions this season.

The Lilywhites secured direct passage to the round of 16 stage of the Europa League after brushing aside Elfsborg at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium last week.

However, according to the calculations of Jeffbet’s supercomputer, the North London club will not progress deep into the competition.

Model predicts Spurs will crash out early

Jeffbet’s supercomputer is a probability model free of human biases, taking into account many different data points, including factors such as league position, current form, and the state of the betting markets.

Each game is simulated 1000 times to arrive at the most probable result, with the model having a built-in level of randomness to ensure that the best teams do not always come out on top.

According to the supercomputer’s calculations, Tottenham will fail to get past the round of 16 stage, with Lazio backed to knock out the Lilywhites at the next stage of the competition.

Given Spurs’ current form, one can understand why these kind of models do not give them much chance of going far in the competition.

However, irrespective of where Spurs are placed in what is arguably the most competitive Premier League season in history, they have shown that they can beat anyone on their day.

Not too many teams remaining in the Europa League will find it easy to beat Tottenham over two legs, which is why Postecoglou’s men are among the top five or six favourites to go all the way.
