Mavericks Legend Dirk Nowitzki Couldn’t Believe Reported Luka Doncic Trade

Count Dirk Nowitzki among those who were stunned to hear the Mavericks traded superstar Luka Doncic.

Nowitzki, a Hall of Famer who spent 21 seasons with the Mavericks organization, posted to X early Sunday morning after it was reported that Doncic was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers.

The 14-time NBA All-Star let one simple emoji do all the talking.

The Mavericks acquired big man Anthony Davis, Max Christie and a 2029 first-round pick while parting with Doncic, Maxi Kleber and Markieff Morris.

Nowitzki certainly isn’t alone. Trading the 25-year-old Doncic, a First Team All-NBA selection each of the last five seasons, for an aging Davis, a 21-year-old guard averaging 8.5 points per game and one draft selection caught the entire NBA world by surprise.

If it makes Nowitzki feel better, it’s been reported that Doncic, Davis and Lakers superstar LeBron James all found out the same way.
