Tottenham Hotspur’s Radu Dragusin picks up a knock

So far this month, Tottenham Hotspur have been receiving positive news on the injury front regarding their injured centre-backs.

Over the last few weeks, we have seen Ben Davies return to action and yesterday Micky van de Ven was able to last for 45 minutes in his first game since December 8, when he was subbed off against Chelsea.

Cristian Romero as well, has begun his own recovery. In the last seven days, he has been spotted outdoors doing light training work and indoors doing some gym work.

While, there has been positive news, yesterday, Spurs were handed a blow when Radu Dragusin was forced to come off after he came on in place of Micky van de Ven.

Ange Postecoglou has since provided an update on his fitness, stating: “Still not sure, we’ll let it settle down and get more information over the weekend. He’s obviously not available for this weekend.”

Tottenham Hotspur could be in the market for a new centre-back

Following this latest setback, Spurs now have just Ben Davies, a recovering Romero and van de Ven as well as Gray as their centre-back options.

This is not sufficient depth as one or two more injuries to any of these players will leave the Lilywhites in a difficult situation.

When asked whether Spurs will sign another centre-back, Ange Postecoglou told football.london: “I think depending on the extent of Radu’s (injury), it might be an area we need to look at and certainly this weekend (we are) exploring some options.”

Can Tottenham really get a defender this winter window?

Despite Postecoglou’s hint, it is very difficult to trust or hold onto the manager’s words. I mean earlier this window, we were told that the club was working hard to get help for this group of players. Yet, thirty-one days have gone by and still no support has been found.

Instead, the players that Spurs have been linked with all winter are gradually being picked up by other clubs and we are meant to believe that they are “working hard” to get things done. Our best bet is to hope Dragusin’s injury is a short-term one rather than a long-term injury.
