Are Tottenham well-placed in the race to sign Mathys Tel?

Over the past 24 hours, we have been hearing many contradictory reports regarding whether Spurs stand a chance of winning the race for Mathys Tel.

On Wednesday, Tottenham insider Paul O Keefe handed the Lilywhites a blow by revealing that Tel would prefer to join Manchester United.

However, The Telegraph subsequently pointed out that Spurs have a good relationship with Bayern after agreeing deals for Harry Kane and Eric Dier over the last 18 months, which could potentially work to their advantage.

Fabrizio Romano backs Tottenham to ‘go big’ for Mathys Tel

In his latest YouTube video, Fabrizio Romano says that the 19-year-old has decided to leave the Allianz Arena before the window slams shut on February 3.

He explains that Spurs are one of four Premier League sides circling over Tel, who is open to leaving Bayern on loan or on a permanent transfer.

The journalist states that the teenager wants guaranteed game time and assurances that he would be an important player rather than a squad option.

Finally, Romano adds that Tottenham are prepared to offer ‘something important’ to Tel and are prepared to ‘go big’ to bring the versatile attacker to N17.

Three other Premier League clubs vying for Tel

While talking about Man Utd’s interest in Tel, Romano makes it clear that the Red Devils only want to sign Tel on loan and are not interested in a permanent deal.

He explains that Chelsea are also very much involved in the race for the Bayern starlet, who the West London club are fans of.

According to the Italian transfer expert, Arsenal are also keeping themselves informed about the developments on Tel but have not engaged in active talks over a deal just yet.
