Tom Brady Addresses NFL Theory About Speculated Nemesis
Tom Brady was forced to revisit an unpleasant memory Sunday afternoon.
Brady was on hand at Lincoln Financial Field for the NFC Championship Game between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Washington Commanders. And so was Nick Foles, whose attendance was pointed out by Brady’s FOX broadcast partner, Kevin Burkhardt.
“Nick Foles in the building — Super Bowl (LII) MVP,” Burkhardt said. “Who did he play in that game? Did you know he played in that game?”
Foles, of course, outlasted Brady’s New England Patriots in the memorable contest at U.S. Bank Stadium. And after initially laughing at Burkhardt’s rhetorical questions, Brady addressed a longstanding NFL theory.
“Nick, I don’t hate you,” Brady said. “I’m just jealous of you! You caught it, I didn’t!”
Countless fans had been under the impression that Brady hated Foles ever since the Eagles’ upset win on football’s biggest stages. Those theorists pointed to a pair of postgame scenes where Brady, after a loss, didn’t shake Foles’ hand. Some even thought Brady made a point to scrub Foles’ name from “The Dynasty” documentary on AppleTV+.
Some fans, as you can see on X, didn’t buy Brady’s claim that he has no beef with Foles. And there’s a chance the situation will be revisited again Feb. 9 when Philadelphia battles the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX.
