Patriots Rumors: Ohio State Assistant To Join Josh McDaniels’ Staff
The Patriots reportedly added some championship flavor to their coaching staff on Friday.
New England is set to hire Riley Larkin as an offensive assistant, according to ESPN’s Pete Thamel. Larkin comes from Ohio State, where he was an offensive assistant in the quarterback room this past season.
The Buckeyes won the College Football Playoff National Championship on Monday.
Larkin played quarterback at John Carroll University, the same school that Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels graduated from back in 1998. Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel, of course, played college football at Ohio State, so the young assistant has plenty of ties in New England.
Larkin has been a key piece in quarterback recruiting in recent years, according to Ohio State recruiting expert Mick Walker. The Buckeyes landed top recruit Tavien St. Clair in 2024.
The Patriots likely will have him work under McDaniels and newly-hired quarterbacks coach Ashton Grant.
