Patriots Rumors: Key Update Amid Josh McDaniels Speculation
Josh McDaniels was labeled the favorite to land the Patriots offensive coordinator job before he even interviewed for it.
But one aspect has changed.
The Patriots interviewed McDaniels for their offensive position, according to a report from MassLive’s Mark Daniels on Tuesday evening.
McDaniels is at least the fourth coordinator to be interviewed by Mike Vrabel and the Patriots, according to multiple reports. New England interviewed Thomas Brown and Marcus Brady last week and spoke with Grant Udinski earlier this week.
The 48-year-old McDaniels has more experience coaching in the league than all three combine.
The veteran play-caller, who was fired both times he became a head coach, is a familiar name to those in New England. He served on Bill Belichick’s coaching staff for 19 seasons (2001-08; 2011-21). McDaniels was the offensive coordinator during 13 of those campaigns, but has never coached with Vrabel.
