Portland Pickles to kick off new soccer team in Spring 2025

0 7

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – The Portland Pickles have become a strong local presence in collegiate baseball with packed stands throughout the summer and a beloved mascot to boot.

But in May 2025, the Pickles will broaden its talent by kicking off a new soccer team through the United Soccer League 2.

Details about the team are limited, but a press release from the Portland Pickles said more information — including the team’s name, logo, and stadium — will be revealed in February as they prepare to debut for USL2’s upcoming season.

We are incredibly excited to bring a USL2 team to Portland,” Pickles owner Alan Miller said.

“We see the rise of this level similar to how college baseball has exploded in the Pacific Northwest. We can't wait to bring Pickle vibes to the soccer world.”

Fans can join the waiting list for tickets in the upcoming six-game season on USL2’s website starting Tuesday. The team warns that ticket sales will be “extremely limited.”

“Portland is a soccer-rich community and one with immense pride for being unique and different, “Joel Nash, Senior VP of Youth and Pre-Professional Properties, said. “We couldn’t ask for better partners in the Pickles to launch an exciting club that celebrates the beautiful game with a vibe only Portland could bring.”
