Man United are keenly interested in 'unbelievably strong' forward - report

0 7

Manchester United have been linked with Borussia Dortmund youngster Jamie Gittens.

Gittens has been in sparkling form this season despite Dortmund’s struggles, registering 11 goals and five assists across all competitions.

The 20-year-old joined the German club from Manchester City as an academy player in 2020.

After starring for Dortmund’s youth sides, he made his debut for the first team towards the end of the 2021/2022 campaign. He has been a part of the team since then.

The Red Devils are ‘seriously interested’ in the England youth international, according to journalist Florian Plettenberg.

United’s attack has been poor this season. None of the club’s players have reached double figures for goal involvement. Amad Diallo is the top scorer with nine goals.

A move for the forward, described as ‘unbelievably strong in one-on-ones‘ by teammate Pascal Groß, bodes well for Man United.

However, they face competition for his signature. Chelsea are also keenly interested in him, alongside Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich.

No decision has been made on his future, but United and other interested clubs have ‘expressed concrete interest’ in signing him.

Gittens is unlikely to leave the Signal Iduna Park this month. A summer move would be more realistic if Borussia Dortmund miss out on Champions League qualification.

Man United can use Dortmund’s interest in Rashford to sign Gittens

Borussia Dortmund are ‘pushing to sign’ Marcus Rashford on loan this month. This may help United in their pursuit of Gittens.

Sending Rashford on loan to Dortmund would strengthen the ties between the two clubs.

However, Gittens may favour joining a Champions League team, which could scupper United’s hopes of signing him.

They are 12 points behind fourth-placed Manchester City, making Champions League qualification for next season unlikely.
