Tottenham could face relegation battle unless changes are made – Jamie O’Hara

0 2

Three more senior injuries led to a change in formation for Tottenham against Everton and the result was one of their worst first-half performances of the season. Jamie O’Hara fears a relegation battle is imminent if something does not change.

More injuries. More points dropped for Tottenham.

Dominic Solanke, Yves Bissouma and Brennan Johnson were three new names added to Tottenham’s injury list for their trip to Everton.

The ten players on the injury list make up the majority of Tottenham’s usual starting XI. Ange Postecoglou opted for a change in formation, starting the match in a 3-4-3.

However, the tactical adjustment seemed to leave some of the less experienced players confused and the first half became mired with poor positioning and defensive mistakes.

Tottenham sit 15th in the Premier League table. Each week another injury mishap worsens their situation and another opportunity to rectify the situation passes them by.

Jamie O’Hara slams Spurs performance against Everton

Former Tottenham player and pundit, Jamie O’Hara did not hold back in his analysis of Spurs’ first half against Everton.

Posting on X, O’Hara said: “I’m sorry this can’t continue regardless of injuries this is absolutely embarrassing, all over the place defensively, shocking in midfield, this is one the worst performances I’ve seen in a long time, if we’re not careful we could get dragged into a relegation battle. Sacked??”

Tottenham did mount a partial comeback bringing the final scoreline to 3-2, but the damage done in the first half proved to be fatal.

A new manager cannot heal the injured players

While Postecoglou should shoulder some blame for the attempted tactical change, any questions about relieving him from his duties feel more emotional than practical.

No other manager brought in will make the currently available players less fatigued or bring back the injured players any faster.

Ange Postecoglou has been asking for help from the club for the last 3 weeks of the January transfer window and has only received Antonin Kinsky in return.

Ange Postecoglou has shown what he can do when supported, but the performance against Everton shows how desperately there needs to be change at Tottenham, ideally from above the manager.
