Patriots Assistant Tabbed For Coaching Role In Elite College Showcase

It’s unknown whether or not Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel will retain any assistants from the previous regime, but Drew Wilkins will have an opportunity to showcase his talents in the near future.

Wilkins, currently the Patriots outside linebackers coach, has been tabbed as the East Team’s defensive coordinator in the 2025 East-West Shrine Bowl.

Wilkins joined New England’s staff when Jerod Mayo took over for Bill Belichick in 2024. Mayo was fired and replaced by Vrabel.

Wilkins previously served as the outside linebackers coach with the New York Giants (2022-23) and Baltimore Ravens. He spent more than a decade in the Ravens organization (2010-2021).

The East-West Shrine Bowl routinely features the best college football players in the country, serving as a showcase for NFL scouts, coaches and executives. Fifty-seven players who participated in last year’s game were drafted in the 2024 NFL Draft, which was the most in the event’s history.

The game will be held Jan. 30 at AT&T Stadium, the home of the Dallas Cowboys.
