University of Oregon legend Haloti Ngata to be inducted into College Football Hall of Fame

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- Haloti Ngata, a former Oregon Ducks defensive lineman, will be inducted into to the College Football Hall of Fame Class of 2025, the National Football Foundation announced Wednesday.

Ngata will be one of 18 All-Americans and four coaches to be recognized this year. 

"During his time here, Haloti was a dominant force on the field, a leader in the locker room, and a role model for all." Oregon athletic director Rob Mullens said on the HOF selection. "Haloti is a true Duck legend, and we are proud to celebrate him, his incredible legacy, and this honor."

In 2002, Ngata made his debut as a true freshman at Oregon and was named a Freshman All-America. After missing the 2003, season, Ngata earned second-team all-Pac-10 honors in 2004.

In his final season as a Ducks, Ngata was a consensus first-team All-American and the Pac-10 Defensive Player of the Year. He was also named a finalist for both the Outland Trophy (top interior lineman) and the Bronko Nagurski Trophy (top defensive player).

Ngata was inducted into Oregon's Hall of Fame in 2016 and was named to the Pac-10's All-Century team.

Over his college career in Eugene, Ngata recorded 151 total tackles, 10 sacks, three forced fumbles, and seven blocked kicks in 35 games.

After being selected 12th in the NFL draft, Ngata spent 13 NFL seasons with the Baltimore Ravens and won Super Bowl XLVII. 

Ngata is the seventh Oregon player to be inducted into the Hall of Fame, joining quarterback Norm Van Brocklin (1966), running back John Kitzmiller (1969), tackle John Beckett (1972), running back Mel Renfro (1986), running back Ahmad Rashad (2007) and running back LaMichael James (2023).

In December, there will be a formal ceremony at the NFF Awards Dinner.
