Spurs choose their top striker target for January

When Randal Kolo Muani made his big-money switch from Eintracht Frankfurt to Paris Saint-Germain 18 months ago, many saw that as the perfect platform for the striker to take his game to the next level put his name among the elite attackers of world football.

Instead, the transfer simply has not worked for the 26-year-old, who has found the back of the net just 11 times in 54 appearances in PSG colours.

He has struggled for starts in the French capital this season and is thought to be keen on sealing an exit, with Tottenham reportedly being one of the clubs alert to the situation.

In fact, some sources have claimed over recent weeks that Spurs have already spoken to the forward’s representatives regarding a switch to N17.

David Ornstein’s big update on Spurs’ pursuit of Randal Kolo Muani

The Athletic’s David Ornstein reveals he has found out from his sources that Spurs want a versatile forward to come through the door this month and have settled on the PSG man as their top target.

He claims that the former Frankfurt man is also attracting interest from both Man Utd and Juventus, adding that the Parisians are willing to let him leave on loan.

Ornstein told NBC Sports: “He’s a target for the likes of Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United and Juventus, who would all like to sign him on loan until the end of the season.

“I think PSG would be open to letting him go on a temporary basis despite the fact that he is under contract until the summer of 2028 because he’s just not getting the game time, and they want to rebuild the value having signed him just over a year ago for a deal worth €90 million.

“I’m told that Tottenham see him as their top target for a versatile attacker.”

Kolo Muani would be difficult to get for Spurs

One can understand why Postecoglou would want Kolo Muani, given the energy and quality he possesses and his ability to play across the front three.

However, the striker will likely have a number of suitors around Europe and might hesitate to join a club who are not in the Champions League.

The fact that Tottenham are languishing in 12th place in the Premier League table could further hinder their chances of convincing the French international to join.
