Club already considering paying £13m for Tottenham man next summer
One club have been so impressed by a Tottenham loanee’s performances this season that they are already started planning to sign him on a permanent basis at the end of the season.
Bryan Gil has got his career back on track in Spain
Bryan Gil never quite managed to get a run of games under his belt at Spurs, having been overlooked by three different managers at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
However, since his loan move to Girona in the summer, the winger has proven a point, tearing La Liga defence to shreds with his dribbling ability, and demonstrating just why he was so highly thought of in Spain when he was coming through the ranks as a youngster.
The 23-year-old’s impressive displays have even seen him win back his place in the La Roja set-up, and a permanent departure from Tottenham looks inevitable.
Girona are planning to sign Bryan Gil on a permanent transfer
AS have now reported that Girona are thinking about activating the purchase option they negotiated with Tottenham for Gil in the summer.
It is revealed that the La Liga side can sign the silky left-footer for €15m (£12.4m) at the end of the season if they wish to do so.
The report claims that manager Michel Sanchez has been impressed with the on-loan Tottenham man, who has now become a central part of his plans.
Even though we are only in January, Girona are now ‘already seriously considering’ retaining Gil beyond the end of this season.
Gil’s stance on his Tottenham future revealed
The report claims that the former Sevilla player is happy at Girona and feels comfortable playing in Michel Sanchez’s system.
The Spanish international is said to be eager to remain at the Estadi Montilivi and settle at the club, particularly given that he has been a bit of a journeyman over recent years, with multiple loan spells at different sides.
While Girona do not need to rush into a decision, it is asserted that they have the financial muscle to pay the transfer fee for Gil.
