'A lot of quality': Amorim delighted with two United stars now available to face Liverpool
Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim is delighted with the availability of two key players for the Premier League game at Liverpool on Sunday.
The Red Devils have suffered defeats in their last three league outings and face another difficult challenge against their arch-rivals at Anfield tomorrow.
Ahead of the encounter, Amorim has received a timely boost with the return of Manuel Ugarte and Bruno Fernandes, who were suspended against Newcastle United.
In a Q&A session on MUTV, the Portuguese said on the duo: “Yes, that is really good. They have a lot of quality, a lot of pace. I think we felt that in the last game, so we are really happy to have them.”
Manuel Ugarte has been a regular starter in the number six position since Amorim’s appointment. He is assured to feature from the off against Arne Slot’s side.
Bruno Fernandes is a guaranteed name in the starting XI. The 30-year-old’s form has been inconsistent, but he has made 16 goal contributions from 27 matches this term.
Regardless of them starting, United face a massive challenge on their hands to beat Liverpool away.
The Red Devils have not won at Anfield since January 2016, when Wayne Rooney scored the game’s only goal.
The club have not netted in any of the previous five visits but have frustrated their fierce rivals with two goalless draws.
A 0-0 stalemate won’t be a bad result, but Amorim will aim to spring a surprise with three points.
United recently stunned Manchester City with a stellar turnaround to win 2-1 at the Etihad Stadium.
The Red Devils will need to frustrate Liverpool and capitalise on any chances that come their way on the counter-attack.
