Tottenham may face competition from Chelsea to land PSG star
Tottenham Hotspur could soon have a problem on their hands as Chelsea are reportedly set to open talks over a deal for one of the North London side’s top January targets.
Spurs have taken steps towards Randal Kolo Muani
The player in question is Paris Saint-Germain forward, Randal Kolo Muani, who is thought to be seeking an exit route from the French capital amidst his struggles for game time this season.
It emerged last week that Tottenham had gathered information about the versatile forward and were keen on pursuing him if he became available.
Just a few days ago, some sources suggested that Ange Postecoglou‘s men had even opened talks with the 26-year-old’s representatives regarding a switch to N17.
Chelsea expected to enter race for Randal Kolo Muani
Foot Mercato have now revealed that Spurs‘ London rivals, Chelsea, may enter the equation as the race for Kolo Muani is expected to intensify.
The report says that the Blues ‘have decided to take action’ as they are ‘seduced by his qualities’, including his versatility and his physical attributes.
As a result, Enzo Maresca’s men are backed to contact PSG over the coming days to find out about the conditions of a deal.
The outlet adds that the Ligue 1 giants would prefer to sanction a loan deal for the Frenchman with an option to buy.
Chelsea would have an advantage over Spurs
If Chelsea do enter the race for Kolo Muani, it would be a big blow to Tottenham as at this time, Stamford Bridge is the more attractive destination for players, with the Blues currently sitting in the top four.
One would also expect the list of the Les Blues star’s suitors to grow over the coming weeks. Spurs would have to act swiftly if they are to win the race for the former Eintracht Frankfurt man.
