Lack of options up front

After his side’s humiliating second-half display at Brighton, Ange Postecoglou rejected the idea that substitutions could have had any effect on the game.

He claimed that his side simply did not have the intensity required to compete at the highest level at the Amex (Guardian).

In truth, the Spurs boss did not have any experienced attacking options to turn to from the bench when the Lilywhites were trying to get themselves back into the game late on. Heung-min Son, Richarlison and Wilson Odobert are all currently sidelined.

Bittersweet news

The Standard have now offered a positive update regarding the Tottenham captain, suggesting that he was ‘pushing’ to be involved against Brighton.

With Son having pulled out from the South Korean squad for their upcoming World Cup qualifiers, it is suggested that Spurs are hopeful he will be back for the London derby against West Ham.

However, the report reveals that Richarlison and Odobert are both nursing long-term injuries and are not expected to be back in action until November.

Son’s return will be a boost

While Son might have not been in great form in the first few games of the season, the South Korean is a killer in the final third and could well have made most of the chances that Timo Werner has fluffed over recent matches.

Having the 32-year-old back in the side will not only improve the Spurs team and intimidate the opposition, but it will also add more leadership to the side, which was evidently missing at the Amex Stadium.
