MATCH REPORT | DARTFORD 0 DULWICH HAMLET 1

0 2

Dartford fell to a fourth defeat in five games (in all competitions), as Luke Wanadio returned to haunt his former club on a glorious October afternoon at Bericote Powerhouse Princes Park.

Having made a bright start in front of the 591 supporters, it was Dulwich Hamlet who were on the back-foot throughout a first-half which the Darts controlled.

But despite their dominance, Ady Pennock’s men just couldn’t find the breakthrough in what would prove to be a frustrating afternoon for the hosts.

Eddie Dsane failed to capitalise on a glorious through-ball in the 6th minute, before Jameson Horlick pulled off two superb saves in quick succession to prevent Callum Jones and Sam Odaudu from breaking the deadlock (26).

A minute later saw the Hamlet shot-stopper pull off another fine save to tip Jeremiah Pinder’s pyledriver over the crossbar, before Samuel Okoye failed to find the target in the 34th minute.

For all their efforts though, the hosts found themselves behind in the 53rd minute. Ex-Dart, Luke Wanadio, was the man to break the deadlock with a delightful curling drive into the bottom corner, following good work by Max Hudson, in what was Dulwich Hamlet’s only effort on target.

Jameson Horlick stood strong to prevent Jones equalising three minutes later, as the Darts looked to hit back, before Samir Carruthers sent a free-kick narrowly over the crossbar (61).

The goalkeeper then made what was arguably the save of the game in the 83rd minute, after his skipper Jerome Binnom-Williams slipped and inadvertently released Callum Jones. The Dartford striker was clean through and one-on-one with Horlick, but it was the goalkeeper who came off best on this occasion.

Ady Pennock introduced Ben Allen and Gabe Campbell for Denzelle Olopade and George Whitefield respectively back in the 79th minute in a bid to try and take the tie to a penalty shootout.

However, the hosts’ efforts were in vain, as Dulwich Hamlet held on to send the Darts crashing out of the FA Trophy in a frustrating afternoon for Josh Hill and Co.
