Gray Wants To Put On Performance For Fans

“We’re fully looking forward to it, we know it’ll be a tough game, but we’re ready for it” said David Gray as he looked ahead to this weekend’s William Hill Premiership clash against Motherwell.

Gray side come into this one with confidence – despite losing their last game 1-0 to Rangers – after stringing together a number of positive performances in their last few outings.

But The Hibeeface a Motherwell side that sit fourth in the league table, winning four of their last five games in all competitions.

When speaking to Hibs TV ahead of Saturday’s game, Gray explained how he wants his players to put in a similar performance level to the one they showed against Rangers last weekend.

“Straight after the Rangers game it was mixed emotions because, ultimately, we lost the game. The challenge was to take the positives from that, because to be honest, there were a lot of positives. We did well across the board, but there were areas where we could’ve improved. We could’ve improved in the final third and we’ve worked hard on that all week.

“I look at the level of performance in the second half against St Johnstone, how that improved, and we took that into the Rangers game, which was a good performance again. We want to take that one step further into the weekend.

"It’s been a good training week, there’s bodies coming back, and we’re really looking forward to the weekend. We know it’ll be a tough game, but we’re ready for it.”

In their last outing at Easter Road, the Hibees put in an impressive performance against St Johnstone, running out 2-0 winners. Now, Gray is looking forward to being back at our home stadium.

“The players are all looking forward to being back at Easter Road and gives us an opportunity to build on our last game there.

“We know we need to start the game as positively and fast as possible because we know if we do that the fans will be right behind us; that’s a big plus point for us.

“We want to put on a performance for the fans.”

Our opponents, Motherwell, have had an excellent start to the campaign picking up 10 points from their opening six fixtures. Our Head Coach gave his thoughts on the Well, but insisted the focus is on us.

“Their long throw-in is one thing you need to contend with, but at the same time, it’s one of many things they’ve got.

“They’re in good form, they’re well organised, well coached, and have a number of good footballers in the team; the three midfielders move the ball well. They’re good defensively which is why they’ve picked up results and are where they are, so we expect a tough game.

“For us, it’s all about how we can keep improving as a group, and to make sure we can turn these positive performances into three points because that’s the most important thing.”
