NBA Rumors: Former Celtics Guard Guest Coaching With Bucks

Rajon Rondo's NBA journey is long and winding, including an NBA championship with the Boston Celtics in 2008.

Now, he's set to return to the floor in a different role under his old coach Doc Rivers with whom he captured that title with in Boston. The former Celtics guard will be a guest coach with Rivers' Milwaukee Bucks, per ESPN's Baxter Holmes. Rondo joined the Bucks for training camp after Milwaukee fell in the first round against the Indian Pacers as the No. 3 seed in last season's playoffs. The veteran guard hopes to assist his old Celtics coach in the start of his own coaching career.

"You'll see him a lot," Rivers told ESPN. "That's all I'll say.

Rondo last played in 2022 with the Cleveland Cavaliers, posting 6.2 points per game in 21 contests. The former Celtic made nine stops across his NBA career, averaging nearly 10 points and eight assists per game in 957 career contests with four All-Star appearances and two NBA titles.

The Celtics and Bucks play the first of three regular-season matchups on Oct. 28, just six days after Boston hangs Banner 18 in the rafters at TD Garden against the New York Knicks.
