Weekend preview: Bassett hit the road

Royal Wootton Bassett Town's senior sides face a trio of away fixtures this weekend. On Saturday the Men's First Team travel to Slimbridge in the Hellenic League Premier Division (3pm kick off). Bassett completed a league double over the Swans last season, their late season 2-1 victory at Thornhill Park serving to all but secure Bassett's place in the playoffs while playing a crucial role in denying Slimbridge a postseason berth. This season has seen both sides endure middling starts to their campaigns, and both will be eyeing victory to help further claw their way up the table. On Sunday the Women's First Team make their first ever competitive visit to Paulton Rovers in the South West Regional Women's Football League Division One North (2pm kick off). Meanwhile Saturday afternoon sees the Development team in Fountains Trophies Cup first round action away against Faringdon Town - who beat Bassett 3-1 when they met in the league in August (3pm kick off).
