Major change to Football Manager 25 as developers axe much-loved feature to ensure game released on time

FOOTBALL MANAGER fans are set for major disappointment after developers of the popular game revealed they are AXING international teams for the next release.

The tactical game, available on PC, consoles and mobile, is given a new version each year featuring the latest transfers and an updated interface.

Football Manager 25 will remove the option to take charge of international teams

Football Manager has become a staple for all lovers of the beautiful game.

And many supporters use it as a way to discover the latest next-gen talents, while also getting to live out their fantasies as a boss on the sideline.

Real players love it too, with the likes of Antoine Griezmann previously revealing his star-studded team.

The next edition of the game, Football Manager 25, will have several new features including — for the first time ever — a women’s football database.

But it appears the changes have come at a cost after developers revealed they have been forced to remove the option to manage international teams.

Players could previously take charge of almost any nation in the world.

And there was even an option to manage a national team alongside a club.

But gamers will have to make do with just domestic sides after Sports Interactive manager Miles Jacobsen released a statement confirming international football’s exit from the game.

The decision was made due to moving Football Manager to a new engine called Unity.

Jacobsen revealed the development team have found it “challenging” and “trickier than anticipated.”

And it’s also resulted in the official announcement of FM25 being delayed until the end of this month.

While the game itself has seen its release pushed back to late November.

However, international football matches will still be simulated in the background of a user’s club save.

While national team management will remain playable on the mobile version of FM25.

But gamers were left deeply unhappy with the departure of international footy.

One said: “Rare FM L here — that’s a real shame. Huge impact.”

Another declared: “Why don’t they just import it from 24 to give people the option to play it and just keep developing it for 26?”

One noted: “Very poor. Awful in fact.”

Another added: “How am I going to turn San Marino into the best country on earth now?”
