0 2

The Chicago Red Stars have signed forward and Moroccan international, Rosella Ayane, on loan through the end of the 2024 National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) Season, the club announced today. Ayane joins the club from Tottenham Hotspurs of the Women’s Super League, arriving in Chicago following approval of a P-1 Visa and International Transfer Certificate. The Moroccan will occupy one of the club’s international roster spots.

“We are excited to welcome Rosella to the Red Stars,” said Richard Feuz, Chicago Red Stars general manager. “Rosella’s experience on the international level and on the club level in England will help reinforce our frontline and help us as we push to earn a playoff spot.”

“I’m so excited to be joining the Chicago Red Stars,” said Ayane. “The NWSL is such a competitive league. I can’t wait to meet the team and get started!”

At Tottenham, Ayane scored 12 goals in 97 appearances across all competitions, playing 5,371 total minutes from 2019 through 2024. Prior to Tottenham, Ayane had stints at Chelsea, Millwall, Bristol City, Everton and Cypriot First Division club, Apollon Limassol. A native of Reading, England, Ayane played for England at the under-17 and under-19 levels before earning her first senior call up for Morocco in 2021. On June 10, 2021, Ayane made her international debut in exciting fashion, scoring less than a minute after subbing on against Mali. Ayane has gone on to score 10 goals across 30 international caps, including 2 goals in the 2022 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, helping Morocco advance to the final.

The Chicago Red Stars take on Angel City FC tomorrow, September 1, at 3 p.m. CT and broadcasted on CBS and available on Paramount+. For tickets and information about the Red Stars’ remaining matches, fans can visit chicagoredstars.com.
