Report: Besiktas step up pursuit of Tottenham player ahead of transfer deadline

0 2

According to a report in Turkish publication Spor Sayfa (as translated by Sport Witness), Besiktas have stepped up their pursuit of Tottenham left-back Sergio Reguilon ahead of Friday’s transfer deadline.

Sergio Reguilon to Besiktas?

The report backs up what we have heard from other sources by stating that Reguilon, who is into the final year of his contract at Spurs, is expected to find a new club before the window slams shut.

It is explained that Besiktas are keen on bringing a new left-back through the door and have identified the Tottenham man as the right profile.

It is alleged that the Istanbul club have now ‘intensified their contacts’ with the 27-year-old as they push to get a deal over the line.

There is competition in Turkey for Reguilon deal

However, the report makes it clear that the Turkish club might not have things their own way as they are not the only ones chasing Reguilon.

Their local rivals, Galatasaray, as well as La Liga duo, Barcelona and Sevilla, are also thought to be monitoring the Spain international’s situation.

Although there are less than 24 hours remaining in the transfer window for English and Spanish clubs, the Turkey window remains open beyond August 30.

Spurs Web Opinion

I would be surprised if Reguilon agrees to move to Turkey, especially given that he is attracting interest from La Liga and the Premier League.

The 27-year-old will probably look to relaunch his career at a mid-table Spanish side.
