According to Ben Jacobs, Tottenham Hotspur are willing to cash in on Djed Spence on transfer deadline day if their asking price for the right-back is met.

Djed Spence has played for Spurs this season

Ange Postecoglou has been vocal about the fact that Spence has impressed him and his coaching staff in pre-season, with the Australian stating that the Englishman has a role to play in the squad this season (The Standard).

The 24-year-old has come on as a substitute in both of Tottenham’s Premier League games so far this season, replacing Pedro Porro against Leicester City and then coming on as a left-back in place of Destiny Udogie in the latter stages of the clash against Everton.

However, Jacobs has now revealed that Spurs are open to sanctioning Spence’s sale before the 11 pm transfer deadline if they receive an offer of £6m or £7m.

Spurs could cash in on Djed Spence

He explained that the Lilywhites would be happy to keep the defender if such an offer does not arrive over the coming hours.

The journalist said on Last Word on Spurs: “Spence’s asking price, which I’m still told is somewhere in the region of £6m or £7m as a minimum.

“So double what anybody has offered particularly as I say Genoa have so far. If they don’t get that number they’ll keep him.”

Spurs Web Opinion

If Tottenham are open to cashing in on Djed Spence, that suggests that the club potentially have a left-back signing lined up in case the sale goes through.

However, I would be quite surprised if the North Londoners decided to let the former Middlesbrough man leave so late in the window.
