Massachusetts Olympian Stephen Nedoroscik To Compete On ‘Dancing With The Stars’

Stephen Nedoroscik became an overnight sensation at the Paris Summer Olympics, and he'll look to show off his skills on the dance floor this fall.

The two-time Olympic bronze medalist was announced as the first celebrity contestant for "Dancing with the Stars" on Thursday. The Worcester, Mass., native appeared on "Good Morning America" and revealed he might try to bring some of his gymnastics routine into his choreography.

"I'm hoping to bring some of them," Nedoroscik told host Robin Roberts, per GMA. "I want to bring some flares, I want to bring some of that gymnastics. Maybe a back flip or handstand. I want to have fun with it."

Nedoroscik became a viral sensation after his signature pommel horse routine helped the United States clinch a bronze medal in the men's team final. Days later, the 25-year-old earned another bronze medal for his individual pommel horse performance. Olympic fans shared memes of Nedoroscik with and without his glasses, which may or may not factor on the dance floor.

"Yeah, I might have fun with it," Nedoroscik said. "I'm scared they'll fly off is the thing, but maybe we could do a gadget to keep them or maybe a new pair of glasses to match the theme, right? That’s what I'm thinking."

Nedoroscik became the first male gymnast to compete on the show, while previous Olympic gymnasts include fellow Massachusetts native Aly Raisman, Nastia Liukin, Laurie Hernandez and Simone Biles.

The 33rd season of the show premieres Sept. 17.
