‘Deal done’ – Fabrizio Romano says Spurs have agreed to sell academy starlet

Tottenham Hotspur are letting players go left, right, and centre this summer, and it seems a top talent from the club’s academy is now on the move, too.

Soonsup-Bell off to Spain

While Spurs fans have been glad to see players such as Emerson Royal, Tanguy Ndombele, and Ryan Sessegnon leave the club this summer, there have also been a number of youth players departing North London.

It is always a shame to see exciting young players moving on, but clearly Tottenham are being ruthless about the personnel they retain this year.

Now, according to Fabrizio Romano, the latest player to be heading to pastures new is Jude Soonsup-Bell, who will be moving to Spain.

Romano tweeted: “Jude Soonsup-Bell set to leave Tottenham Academy in order to join Spanish side Cordoba FC. Permanent transfer, deal done.”

The fee involved and the nature of the deal is unknown at this stage, but it will likely be a matter of time now before Soonsup-Bell is officially announced as a new player for the Segunda Division side.

Short but sweet stay at Spurs for Soonsup-Bell

Soonsup-Bell had a productive season for Tottenham’s Under-21 side last season, registering 12 goals and eight assists in 26 games to help the Lilywhites youth team win the Premier League 2 title.

It was initially thought Spurs would listen to loan offers for the striker this summer, with a number of English Football League clubs interested (BBC).

However, the situation changed recently, and a report from The Mirror claimed Tottenham would be looking to let Soonsup-Bell leave permanently, despite only having signed from Chelsea in January 2023.

Spurs Web Opinion

It is likely that the incredible form and successful transition to the first-team of Will Lankshear has forced this decision for Spurs. There’s clearly just too much competition for Soonsup-Bell to ever really make it in the senior squad, so it’s in his best interest to move on now.

He’s incredibly talented, but sadly the pipeline is very much blocked in the forward area.
