10 different pundits all predict Tottenham will finish in the top four

Ange Postecoglou has prepared his squad for his second season in charge of Tottenham Hotspur as the Australian looks to better his 5th-place finish last season, and ten pundits are backing Spurs to do exactly that.

Tottenham have refreshed their squad this summer

Spurs finally appear to have committed themselves to achieving the ‘painful rebuild’ that Mauricio Pochettino hinted at many years ago with seven fringe players already departing the club this summer.

Postecoglou has also welcomed many fresh faces into Hotspur Way this summer as Tottenham broke their transfer record to sign a much-needed striker in Dominic Solanke.

Excitement is well and truly building now with Tottenham’s 2024/25 campaign set to kick off on Monday, an excitement that has only been encouraged with Spurs’ shock signing announcement of Burnley winger, Wilson Odobert – a rarity in a Fabrizio Romano-era of sports journalism.

10 BBC Sport pundits tip Spurs for top four finish

Despite a summer of change in North London, only 10 out of 29 BBC Sport pundits have predicted that Tottenham will finish in the top four.

Those pundits are Ndeum Onuoah, Sue Smith, Danny Gabbidon, Leon Osman, Danny Murphy, Clinton Morrison, Paul Robinson, Chris Sutton, Michael Brown, Theo Walcott, and Jermaine Beckford.

Former Leeds United striker, Beckford, was the only pundit to predict Tottenham to finish third. BBC Sport’s ‘point system’ of the pundit’s predictions does calculate that Spurs will clinch fourth with Manchester United and Newcastle closely following behind.

It is, however, an improvement upon the predictions given to Postecoglou’s side last season, when they didn’t receive a single vote to finish inside the top four.

SpursWeb opinion

As stated above, Postecoglou is going some way to shifting expectations around Spurs after impressing last season which shows progression, although the Australian manager is hardly one to pay attention to outside noise.

Personally, I’m confident about Tottenham’s top-four chances this season. Postecoglou speaks about a collective, dedicated mentality towards playing his way of football and by signing players who clearly wanted to join and moving on players who didn’t want to be there, Spurs now have that ideology.
