Report: Spurs plotting move for 22-year-old Ligue 1 midfielder

According to a report in Foot Mercato, Tottenham Hotspur are now eyeing a move for Reims midfielder Amir Richardson.

Spurs have secured some top young talent this summer, with Lucas Bergvall, Archie Gray and Yang Min-hyuk arriving through the doors of Hotspur Way.

It now turns out that the Lilywhites have their eye on one of the best young midfielders in Ligue 1, with Foot Mercato claiming that the Premier League side are plotting a move for Richardson.

The 22-year-old, who can operate as a number six or in a box-to-box role, has been likened to Paul Pogba due to his physical and technical attributes.

The Moroccan international is currently at the Olympics and it has been alleged that Tottenham have been keeping a close on the player’s performances in Paris.

The youngster’s name is thought to rank high on the North London club’s wishlist, with the publication adding that Ange Postecoglou’s men could push ahead with an offer for the midfielder over the coming weeks.

Spurs are now just two weeks away from their first match of the 2024/25 season, but have only signed two new players for the new campaign – Archie Gray and Timo Werner – with Yang joining in 2025.

With Conor Gallagher and Jocob Ramsey now seemingly out of Tottenham’s reach, it remains to be seen which midfielder the club would turn their attention to.

It is also possible that Postecoglou could use Archie Gray as Hojbjerg’s replacement and decide to sign another right-back to serve as Porro’s understudy.
