Patriots Reportedly Agree To Extension With Davon Godchaux

The New England Patriots reportedly have satisfied one of their defenders looking for a new contract.

New England agreed to terms with defensive tackle Davon Godchaux on a two-year extension worth up to $21 million with $16.5 million guaranteed, as first reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Godchaux confirmed his displeasure regarding his “frustrating” contract situation when he spoke to reporters Friday. He was set to enter the final year of his deal with a $7.15 million base salary.

The 29-year-old even went as far as to name-drop two players — the Indianapolis Colts’ Grover Stewart and the Cleveland Browns’ Dalvin Thompson — while hinting at the financial commitment he was hoping to receive. Stewart’s three-year, $39 million deal ($26 million guaranteed) and Tomlinson’s four-year, $57 million contract ($28 million guaranteed) pay an average annual value of $13 million and $14.25 million, respectively.

Godchaux will be owed an AAV of $10.5 million with less guarantees on his reported deal.
