'Reached verbal agreement': Man Utd tipped to make third signing, player said 'yes' for transfer - report

0 5

Manchester United are on the verge of completing their third signing of this summer.

According to Santi Aouna, Man United have reached a verbal agreement to sign Noussair Mazraoui from Bayern Munich.

The 26-year-old is ready to move to Old Trafford to reunite with Erik ten Hag.

His transfer depends on the potential departure of Aaron Wan-Bissaka. The Englishman has yet to agree on personal terms with West Ham United.

INEOS are looking to raise funds by selling Wan-Bissaka to the Hammers. They are ready to sanction his exit for around £15 million.

Mazraoui’s injury history should be a big concern for United

The Red Devils are in contact with Bayern for two defenders: Matthijs de Ligt and Mazraoui.

Leny Yoro completed his switch to Old Trafford and De Ligt could be signed later in the window.

Mazraoui seems to be a priority for United, considering their lack of options. He is predominantly a right-back but played six times on the opposite flank last season.

He did well against Arsenal star Bukayo Saka from the same position in the UEFA Champions League in the previous term.

Luke Shaw has been on extended holidays after his involvement in Euro 2024.

Tyrell Malacia missed the entire last season and has remained in the UK for rehabilitation work with United’s medical staff.

Ten Hag has been forced to take two young left-backs – Sam Murray and Harry Amass – with him for the US pre-season tour.

Mazraoui and Ten Hag achieved great success at Ajax. The Dutchman believes the Bayern star could unlock Antony’s potential and is keen to see him at the Theatre of Dreams.

However, United must consider the enormous risk of signing Mazraoui. Injuries have plagued his career, raising concerns about his fitness and reliability.

The full-back was sidelined for 19 games in the 2023/24 campaign due to muscle-related setbacks.

This adds to the troubling trend where he has missed over ten games each season for the past five years.

If the deal goes through, United fans will hope he can stay injury-free and replicate the form that made him a sought-after talent in Europe.
