Report: Spurs still want midfielder but are not yet prepared to pay asking price

Tottenham Hotspur’s midfield options became lighter earlier this week when Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg joined Marseille.

Hojbjerg’s exit means Spurs are a body light in midfield

The Dane departed the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on loan with an obligation to make the move permanent in a deal worth €20million (£16.8m – The Athletic)

Football Insider are reporting that Tottenham are still keen on signing Aston Villa’s Jacob Ramsey this summer.

Villa are reluctant to sell the midfielder who came through the ranks at Bodymoor Heath and no longer have any financial pressures to sell having bypassed the June 30th PSR deadline, having alleviated their situation with the sale of Douglas Luiz to Juventus.

Hojbjerg out, Ramsey in? – £50m is a hefty price tag

Sources claim that Villa value the 23-year-old at £50million, a fee which Spurs are reluctant to meet and instead are proposing the cash-plus-players exchange in a fresh attempt to get the deal done.

Tottenham midfielder Giovani Lo Celso has been mentioned previously as a potential makeweight in the transfer (Direct TV Sports).

With Giovani Lo Celso in the final year of his contract at Tottenham, using him as a part of a deal for Ramsey would make sense, however, £50million is a hefty price tag for a player who has not consistently prove himself.
