Man Utd want to sign £112m talented duo after Leny Yoro deal - report

0 0

Manchester United maintain an interest in signing Matthijs de Ligt and Jarrad Branthwaite despite securing the signature of Lille wonderkid Leny Yoro, according to The Athletic.

The Red Devils confirmed the arrival of Yoro from Lille in a deal worth £52 million plus £7m in add-ons yesterday, but they have not closed the door on purchasing another centre-back.

It is reported that the club continue to hold an interest in De Ligt and Branthwaite, but further deals would ultimately depend on sales and space in the first-team squad.

United more likely to sign De Ligt over Branthwaite

Branthwaite was the priority target for the Red Devils at the start of the summer transfer window.

The club made a couple of bids for the highly-rated Englishman, but they could not persuade Everton to lower their demands. Their latest offer of £50 million fell short of the £70m asking price.

The club have not returned with a renewed bid and in our opinion, they could move on from him after the £59m outlay on Yoro. De Ligt could be the more achievable target in the coming weeks.

The Dutchman has already agreed personal terms over a transfer to Old Trafford. United gave preference to sign Yoro over him, but they could return for his services later on in the transfer window.

Victor Lindelof and Harry Maguire are possible candidates to head for the exit door. The former, who has already entered the final year of his contract, is attracting interest from Fenerbahce.

Lindelof is most likely to leave in the coming weeks. This could pave the way for De Ligt’s arrival. The Dutch international could cost a transfer package of around £42 million.
